Paul Davis, president of the Florida Strawberry Festival, said they plan to be flexible as new public health guidelines come out almost every week, “but I think our country is learning to live with COVID.”

H2o and fertilize the plants in the course of the summer fern year, so plants can manufacture foodstuff to be saved by crown roots for future year’s shoot expansion.  To use fertilizer in a band, dig a furrow various inches deep alongside the side of the planting row, sprinkle the fertilizer evenly together the furrow, cover it with soil and then h2o it in.   

Ferns will change brown in the fall, indicating that carbs (long term foods reserves and power) have been transferred to the roots.  At this time, slice ferns back again and allow for plants to enter winter dormancy.  In spring, new shoots will appear, setting up the cycle once again.
